None of that happens without the right person leading the way. At Chino Hills Senior Living, that person is Vida Ross.

Meet the Director

Before coming to Chino Hills Senior Living, Vida worked as a specialist at both a skilled nursing facility and a behavioral health clinic. That experience gave her a strong foundation for what came next: she joined our community as an insulin nurse and has been caring for residents here ever since, a full eight years now. Since 2019, Vida has served as our Memory Care Director, and she also manages the Diabetic Program.

As Memory Care Director, Vida helps families navigate the different stages of memory loss. She walks them through what Memory Care actually involves and what services are available for their loved one. Meaningful connection matters just as much to her as quality care, and she’s always willing to offer emotional support to families going through a difficult time.

Vida takes that same advocacy into the Diabetic Program, where she helps residents monitor their blood sugar levels, maintain a balanced diet, and keep a consistent daily routine. When a resident’s needs change, she’s quick to request updates to their care plan.

Outside of work, Vida likes to keep things simple. Weekends usually find her at one of her kids’ sports practices or games, or just relaxing at home with family.

A Day in Memory Care

A typical day for Vida includes checking in with residents and their families, coordinating with doctors, and assisting with insulin administration. She keeps a close eye on changes in residents’ conditions and loops in the right people the moment a plan needs adjusting.

Vida says small gestures often go the furthest:

“Giving residents extra support can make a big difference! Even just a short 5-10 minute conversation can help address their worries and concerns, putting them at ease.”

That open-door mindset carries into her office, too, where residents are always welcome to stop by:

“I have too many favorite memories with residents! Some that stand out to me are the residents who come to my office daily/frequently to sit with me. (I make them coffee and give them snacks.)”

What Makes It Worth It

Ask Vida what she finds most rewarding about her work, and the answer comes quickly:

“The relationships and connections we’re able to make with residents. I really love seeing the difference we’ve been able to make in their overall well-being.”

That sense of connection isn’t just between Vida and residents — it runs through the whole team. She describes the group she works with as tight-knit, especially in Memory Care:

“We’re a small, tight-knit community that makes residents feel at home. This is especially the case in Memory Care. It’s like one big family.”

And she’s quick to credit her coworkers for pushing each other to be better:

“Everyone helps each other out and motivates each other to do better every day!”

It’s this kind of teamwork that makes our Memory Care program what it is. When staff genuinely enjoy working alongside one another, that warmth carries over to residents and families too.

Congratulations to Vida on celebrating her seventh anniversary as Memory Care Director this past July!
